Welcome to "Make Canada Affordable Again"
In 2016 Canadians witnessed a quiet revolution with our neighbors to the south. The American people said enough is enough! They moved away from the status quo and elected Donald Trump as their new President. Trump ran on the platform of Make America Great Again. Canadians have been complacent for too long. We need to speak up and tell our Federal and Provincial Governments that enough is enough as well before all our businesses leave and no one can afford a home, car, insurance or to put food on their table. We ask you to join our movement, speak up and tell our governments that they need to focus on the people of Canada first!
In 2015 Canada was listed as the fifth-most expensive country to live. We rank tenth among the OECD's 34 member countries in terms of average wages however remember that private sector wages are, on average, 13% less than public sector. Finally Canada pays the fifth highest income tax rate again according to the OECD and we are the second highest when HST and other taxes are added. Our elected officials offer no more than lip service and, in fact, only continue to aggravate the situation with exorbitant increases in taxes, gasoline, hydro and more.
I am a publisher, author and blogger. Since 2010 I have been writing about the disparity in wholesale and retail prices that Canadian businesses and consumers pay as compared to our U.S. neighbours and other countries. I have watched our dollar reach parity with the U.S. Dollar with NO EFFECT on Canadian prices. When the Canadian Dollar losses ground however Canadian importers and retailers where first off the mark to raise their prices. Reported sales and corporate profits continue to soar on the backs of the Canadian consumer only because we are paying more for the same items.
While I will continue to educate the consumer on the benefits of cross-border shopping and helping them keep more of their hard earned dollars doing work for them I am also taking the torch to try and stem the flow of businesses, professionals, entertainers and average Canadians from leaving Canada to countries where they can minimize their tax burdens and see their dollars go much, much further.
